  • Visit the active Hekla Volcano with an expert guide who will explain the geology and exercise safety precautions.
  • Hike to Gjáin Valley with its lush greenery and unique rock formations before finishing in Þjórsárdalur Valley to admire the Hjálparfoss double waterfall.

DAY 5 Vik: Reynisfjara Beach

DAY 6 Höfn: Glacier lagoon

  • Continue on to Höfn and visit Vatnajökull National Park to hike the various trails to admire the landscape of lagoons and glaciers.
  • Ascend to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and nearby Diamond Beach, where icebergs from the lagoon wash ashore.

Vök: 1 night
DAY 7 Vök: Fjords and baths

  • Head to Vök, stopping to hike the East Fjords of Iceland, admiring the landscape.
  • Unwind in the Vök Baths, floating infinity pools on Lake Urriðavatn with a bistro.

Akureyri: 2 nights
DAY 8 Akureyri: Geothermal Area

  • Head to Akureyri stopping over halfway at the Námaskarð Geothermal Area, with hot springs, fumaroles, and mud pots.
  • Lunch in the nearby town of Reykjahlíð, located on the shores of Lake Mývatn.

DAY 9 Akureyri: Canyon hike

  • Visit the Jökulsárgljúfur Canyon and Dettifoss Waterfall at Vatnajökull National Park.
  • Hike the Canyon Loop or the Echo Rocks Trail before returning to Akurery for the evening.

DAY 10 Akureyri: Departure

  • Head to Akureyri International Airport for your onward flight. You can also finish this loop of Iceland with stops in Siglufjörður for whale watching and Reykholt for more hot springs, volcano hikes and waterfalls before ending back in the capital, Reykjavik.
